The Terro T1210 No Mess Mosquito Larvacide Pouches are designed for easy handling and safe application. Each pouch features a water-soluble film that eliminates the need for direct contact with the active biological ingredients. This dry-pouch system is specifically built to treat up to 50 square feet of surface area, making it a convenient choice for birdbaths, planters, and small water features.
Usage Realities & Efficiency
While marketed for ease of use, the water-soluble film (Polyvinyl Alcohol) requires some level of water movement or sufficient temperature to dissolve completely. In very cold water or low-agitation environments, the film may fail to disperse fully, creating a residue that can sequester the active ingredients. A practical reality of this design is that its efficacy is highest in water temperatures below 32°C and in areas that receive some shade, as the biological spores are sensitive to intense sunlight.
The pouches provide a rapid knockdown of larvae, with results typically seen within 2 to 24 hours of ingestion. Because they are not an adulticide, they will not kill flying mosquitoes, so a consistent application schedule is necessary to break the pest's life cycle. The pouches should be stored in a dry location to prevent the casing from becoming sticky or fusing due to ambient humidity.
