This 17.5-inch by 12-inch educational placemat is built with a heavy-duty 10-mil laminate, making it significantly thicker than standard consumer mats. The design is encapsulated in a polypropylene-based laminate that is chemically inert and BPA-free. A micro-textured, non-glare finish is applied to the surface to reduce reflections from overhead lights, making the animal illustrations and numbers easier to see.
The mat supports both wet-erase and dry-erase markers, though using wet-erase markers is recommended to prevent the "ghosting" or staining that can occur if dry-erase ink is left on the surface for more than two days.
