The Unibath Ghost Mat is designed with a high-density micro-fiber pile that measures between 15mm and 20mm. This 1200 GSM construction provides significant underfoot compression and comfort. The rug features a custom die-cut silhouette, and the edges are finished with overlocked stitching to help prevent the perimeter from fraying or shedding during daily use.
The backing utilizes a Thermoplastic Rubber (TPR) grid. This material is chosen for its ability to maintain flexibility even with temperature fluctuations, such as those found in bathrooms with underfloor heating. Unlike some adhesive backings, TPR is designed to resist flaking over time. However, to maintain the non-slip vacuum effect on polished tiles, community feedback suggests air-drying the mat rather than using a high-heat dryer, which can cause the backing to warp.
Tests indicate that the high-density fibers allow the mat to absorb up to three times its weight in water.
