The Artfanke 3D Door Murals are designed to refresh the look of standard doors using a 0.12mm calendered PVC film. This thickness is slightly higher than standard wall decals, providing the durability needed for a high-traffic area like a doorway. The matte laminate finish helps reduce glare and provides a water-resistant surface that can be wiped clean with a damp cloth if it becomes smudged.
The adhesive used is a pressure-sensitive acrylic that forms a strong bond. While this is helpful for keeping the large sheets in place, it can be aggressive on certain surfaces. On older, hollow-core doors with thin veneers or loose paint, there is a risk of surface damage during removal. To ensure a smooth installation, it is critical to align the sheets precisely at the top; even a 1mm tilt can result in a noticeable gap at the bottom of the door.
The 3D geometric effect relies on ambient lighting and shadows to create a sense of depth. It is most effective when viewed from a distance in a well-lit hallway.
The material may have a "plastic" scent for the first few days after unboxing, which typically dissipates once the mural is applied and the room is ventilated. Because the vinyl has "memory," it is best to avoid stretching it during application, as it may attempt to pull back to its original shape, causing the edges to lift.
